Product Description

What models can this item be used for?

Suits Fissler Vitavit Royal, Vitaquick, Blue-point & Magic Models

What do you need it for?

You will need this part to form a seal around the lid so that no pressure escapes from the pressure cooker.

When would you need to replace this seal?

You will need to purchase this seal if you notice that your previous sealing ring has shrunk, hardened or damaged (split or stretched). Obvious signs of needing the seal replaced would be seeing steam escaping from around the lid of your pressure cooker or finding that your pressure cooker no longer reaches full pressure.

How long do seals last?

Generally speaking, seals last between 2-5 years depending on frequency of use and how it is cared for.

Tip: When storing your pressure cooker, ensure that the lid of your pressure cooker is turned upside down so that the seal is not being pushed into the pot over an extended period of time. This will assist with the longevity of your seal.

How do you replace the seal?

Depending on the condition of the seal, you will either be able to easily remove the seal by pulling it out of the groove or you will need to use a sharp edge to carefully lift or cut out the old seal. With each use, the seal will expand and shrink. Over time the seal may harden or stick to the groove. When removing a seal in this condition, ensure that the groove in the lid is clean before inserting the new seal so that the new seal can expand freely to seal in the pressure.

Tip: Use the clock face inserting method. If you think about the groove like a clock face, insert part of the seal equally at 12, 6, 3 and 9 o'clock - and then fill the remaining areas of the groove (this will avoid you having any excess seal that can't be inserted). If the seal has a join (such as the Seb pressure cooker seals), begin the process from the join. Never cut the seal to size.
